If you’re thinking about getting this type of device in order to restore your smile, here are some of the more frequently asked questions that our patients have:

• Are there any foods I cannot eat when wearing my Invisalign clear braces? In most cases, you will still be able to eat a lot of your favorite foods without any restrictions. You simply remove them prior to eating your meal and then place them back on your teeth when you have finished. Be sure to brush and floss after eating.
• Can I smoke when I am wearing my Invisalign aligners? Naturally, as with other medical professionals, the dentists at Stony Brook Family and Laser Dentistry discourage cigar or cigarette smoking. Plus, the nicotine residue from smoking will discolor your aligner trays.
• Comfort-wise, how do the Invisalign aligner trays compare to traditional braces? Unlike metal braces, the aligner trays are removable and made out of smooth plastic to fit your teeth. As a result, they are much more comfortable to wear.
• How much do Invisalign clear braces usually cost? The cost typically varies depending on the patient’s dental health and the type of insurance coverage they have. Additionally, we accept several different coverages (see Dental Insurances and Finances listed under the section entitled “About Our Practice” on the homepage of our website).
• Will my Invisalign clear braces impact my daily life? Your day-to-day life should not be affected at all. Invisalign clear braces are completely removable and nearly invisible, so you should be able to do anything you normally would over the course of a day such as conducting your normal daily activities, delivering work presentations, exercising or playing sports, and performing tasks at work.
